Prior to co-founding Rivet Ventures, Rebeca Hwang co-founded YouNoodle, Cleantech Open, and Startup Nations Summit. Rebeca was educated at MIT and Stanford and has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and as one of the top 35 under 35 Global Innovators by MIT Tech Review. Rebeca also serves on the Global Board of Kauffman’s GEN and has served on WEF’s Global Council on the Future of Migrations. She is also on the Board of Imagine H2O, which is the world’s premier accelerator for water startups. She teaches Technology Entrepreneurship at Stanford University and is an inventor holding multiple patents. Rebeca was born in Seoul, raised in Argentina and educated in the US, and has worked closely with several countries on their national startup programs, including Malaysia, South Korea, Spain, Iceland, Chile and Mexico, where she was the co-Chair of the Access to Capital committee of the Mexico U.S. Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council. A TED speaker and listed by Forbes as one of their 20 inspiring young female founders to follow on Twitter, Rebeca is a frequent speaker at global conferences on entrepreneurship and women leadership. Rebeca is currently focused in Latin American startups with Kalei Ventures, and very passionate about technologies and innovations that may shape the future of childcare in the USA.Rebeca loves traveling and culinary experiments. Before becoming the mother of a very opinionated toddler, she used to enjoy hiking, boxing, playing rugby, dancing and sailing. Today, she is lucky if she is able to carve out time for some sleep, go sailing around the San Francisco Bay or to read a good fiction book by her favorite Latin American authors.
