Shiv is Vice-Chairman of SUN Group, a diversified global group, with both operating and investment companies active in areas including Private Equity, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, High Technology, Gold Mining and Real Estate. The group has worked around the world from Latin America, West Africa, the Middle East, Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia, Myanmar, Japan, China. It has been active in the Indian private equity sector with a series of private equity franchises that have collaborated with world class investment management companies such as Sequoia and Apollo (Real Estate).
Shiv has served on the Board of Overseers of The Wharton School for over a decade, and is currently on the board of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Shiv serves on Yale University's President's Council on International Activities; the Asia Society Policy Institute's Global Council and is on the advisory board of Stanford University's Philanthropy and Civil Society Centre as well as the Centre for Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania. He has also served as a member of the President's Leadership Council at Brown University, on the Advisory Board of the School of Oriental and African Studies and on the board of the Judge Institute at Cambridge University. He was a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Education. SUN Group is a member of the Russian Prime Minister's Foreign Investment Advisory Council. He was active with International Crisis Group, Eurasia Group and on the advisory board of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard.
Shiv is a member of the BRICS Business Council delegation and leads the Indian business representation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He sits on the National Council and International Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry and is co-chairman of the Aerospace and Defence Council at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Shiv is Chairman of the Global Education and Leadership Foundation (tGELF), an education initiative committed to identifying, nurturing and supporting ethical and altruistic leadership potential at schools and colleges around the world. He serves on the Board of Governors of Junior Achievement Worldwide and is a Trustee of the Foundation Leadership Council at United World College South East Asia. The Khemka family is a founding member of Brookings India, the Indian School of Business, the Public Health Foundation of India and the Skolkovo Business School.
Shiv was elected a "Global Leader for Tomorrow" (GLT) at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 1997. He was awarded the "Wharton India Alumni Award", the "Dr. Jean Mayer Global Citizenship Award" by Tufts University, and the "Outstanding Contribution to Education Prize" by Wharton.
Shiv studied at Eton College, earned a BA in economics from Brown, an MBA/MA with distinction from the Wharton School of Business and the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. He speaks seven languages, including Portuguese and Russian. He is also Chairman of the Indian Aikido Federation. He is married and has three daughters.
