Nikhil Hirdaramani is a Director of the Hirdaramani Group which is a 4th generation family business based in Sri Lanka. Its main business interest is the manufacture of apparel in its facilities spread across Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Ethiopia. The group has in recent years diversified into other sectors such as Hospitality, Sustainable Power and Retail.
Nikhil, with over 20 years' experience in the business has been involved in marketing and supply chain, developing and managing relationships with many customers and suppliers from various markets such as Europe, USA, India and Japan.
In recent years Nikhil has led the group's sustainability initiative, which has become a key aspect of the overall groupâ€™s strategy commencing with the opening of Asia's first Carbon Neutral Factory, Mihila.
Nikhil is extremely passionate and a strong advocate in sustainability supporting the voice of the manufacturer. He has been the chairperson at the Sri Lanka Sustainability Forum, which is part of the annual Sri Lanka Design Festival, bringing together stakeholders from across the supply chain to discuss current sustainability issues. Within the wider global industry, Nikhil is the Vice Chair of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and on the council of the Social and Labor Convergence Project.
Nikhil has previously served as a director on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka and SEDEX in the UK.
Nikhil has a BA in International Relations from Tufts University in the USA and a MBA from Imperial College, London UK.
Within EO, Nikhil is a founder member of the Sri Lanka chapter but has been previously a member of EO London. He has served on local, regional and global level. Most recently he chaired the EO London University and was the Sub-Committee Chair for global Executive Education. He presently is a member of the Global Events Sub-committee and also on the EO UN SDG working group.
