In his key role as Tamkeen Chairman, His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa has led Tamkeen's efforts to position the Kingdom's private sector as a key economic driver as well as supporting the growth of Bahrainâ€™s enterprises and the professional career development of individuals. For over 15 years, His Excellency has worked closely with the court of HRH the Crown Prince as a leading Political and Economic Affairs Advisor to establish the Bahrain Economic and Social Reform Programmes. His roles have included Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), where his milestone achievements included launching Bahrainâ€™s Economic Vision and National Strategy, creating the Labour Market Reform Programme and the establishment of Bahrainâ€™s LMRA and Tamkeen, undertaking education and training reform and establishing Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company to own and manage the Kingdom's non-oil and gas assets, where he also serves on the board.
His Excellency hold additional positions as Executive Chairman of McLaren Group and as a board member of Gulf Air, the Crown Prince's International Scholarship Programme and Formula One Group, the owner of the Formula One racing series. His Excellency holds a bachelorâ€™s degree in Economic Theory from American University in Washington DC and a post-graduate diploma in Business Studies from the London School of Economics.
